I was just watching "Deliver us from Evil" on tape yesterday (the episode where Caitlin is murdered) and I swear I saw
I THINK I saw
something strange I hadn't noticed before.
In the scene near the end of the story where Sonny changes his mind about transferring out of Vice and crumples up his letter of transfer, watch as he goes to his locker. When he opens the door, there are two photographs on the inside of the locker door. The top one is of a younger Sonny in football uniform beside another football player. But the one on the bottom...that's Crockett and Tubbs, isn't it?! It looks like the two of them leaning against the railing of a boat.
The shot is obviously composed so the television audience gets a clear look at the photos. So what I'm getting at is this: was this a joke on the part of the writers/crew, or were they trying to tell us something? (Slash fiction fans, you know what I'm getting at here.)
I'm not a big fan of slash fiction in general. Personally I think it's a sweet touch that Sonny would have such a picture in his locker, and I don't think it HAS to AUTOMATICALLY mean a more-than-platonic attraction. But on the other hand, how many of you out there keep pictures of your co-workers in your locker??
I'd appreciate if those of you who have this episode on tape haul it out and take a peek at this sequence and let me know what you think. Am I seeing things? What non-slash reason can anyone out there think of for Sonny to have this picture? I can think of two:
1. It was a momento of their most successful case/biggest bust together.
2. The photo (I'm just guessing here) was a real promotional shot given out by the network to MV fans, and the producers thought it would be a fun in-joke for fans to see "their" souvenir photo appear on the show.
I eagerly await other opinions!
